I'm sure a lot of you have noticed the Amaz0ns Swicki "buzzcloud" located on various pages at Amaz0ns. A "swicki" is a collaborative search engine that operates on principles similar to a wiki. Here's the explanatory blurb from the Eurekster FAQ:
I found out today that Amaz0ns' swicki is one of the top ten hosted by Eurekster, with 600 to 700 searches conducted daily. In popularity it has even surpassed the swicki at Techcrunch, which is where I first saw the implementation and which is also very popular. I'm very excited about the news. Why are swickis important? Imagine if you could program Google or Yahoo! so that instead of returning search results that reflect the interests of the total universe of users in your country or region or language group, it prioritized the results of a subset of people with interests similar to yours. You'd get better results, wouldn't you? That's what a swicki does, and the more intensively people use it, the better it gets. By using the Amaz0ns Swicki, you are essentially helping to build a search engine database specifically intended for fans of strong women. Better still, a user-customized search engine is far less vulnerable to "search engine optimization" tricks by disreputable site operators. So please give our swicki a whirl. Also, if you have a site of your own and would like the Amaz0ns Swicki to appear on it, please contact me. Related Items:
