Who could ever forget the song and video that catapulted Joan Jett from obscure girl band guitar player to a goddess of rock n' roll, and spent seven weeks at the top of the charts in the spring of 1982? Jett might not have personally killed disco, but she pissed on its grave (standing up). She's got brass tubes. Let's just say that if Chris Berman said "You're with me, leather" to Joan Jett, today he'd be wearing his genitals in his larynx.
When Jett released "Do You Wanna Touch Me", her muscularity was evident, and the video itself served as a showcase for the idea of Joan Jett as a tough bitch. In the 80s, she often performed in wife-beaters and tank tops that showed off her wiry arms and shoulders, and she still likes to show them off today.
Here's a back-in-the-day German TV clip of The Blackhearts performing their cover of "Crimson and Clover". (If you don't get a tingle when Joan looks into the camera at 1:29 and opens her eyes wide, well, I hate to be the one to break the news but you're probably dead.) Going really old-school, here's an (excellent quality) 1977 clip of Joan when she was with "jailbait band" The Runaways, performing "School Days".
More recently, here she is doing "Light of Day" along with some guy in a hat. And just this summer Jett turned up in this video by The Eyeliners, a band on her Blackheart Records label. (Go buy something from the label's store, like maybe this, you cheap bastards.) Joan Jett and The Blackhearts have wrapped up a successful summer tour, but you can check future tour dates here. Hopefully they'll keep coming back out to play.
I feel sorry for your younger readers who weren't around to appreciate Jett in her heyday. She was definitely a sexy little thing. Her cover of Crimson and Clover was (in my opinion) the best thing she ever did, and that moment at 1:29 of that clip (thanks for pointing it out) is definitely a winner!

One of the best concerts I ever went to was a Joan Jett concert. No lighting effects just good ole rock and roll.
And she's still got a bod and nice arms from swinging her guitar.

Good one. I prefer "ovaries as big a church bells".
