Female Boxer Busted

OK, let's get something straight. If you are the kingpin of any kind of criminal organization, things you don't want to do include:
  • Driving around a $250,000 Bentley
  • Spending $90,000 on a custom-built motorcycle.
  • Mooring a hugely expensive speedboat directly outside your residence.
  • Naming aforementioned speedboat after plot elements in popular mafia television programming, i.e. "The Bada Bing".
And yet that is exactly what New York bodybuilder Gregory Kovar did with money earned through his steroid ring. He should have just named the speedboat "Ill-Gotten Gains", and then maybe people would have thought he was kidding.

Sadly, female boxing phenomenon Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano is alleged to have been one of Kovar's distributors.

The sting nabbed Envy Us manager and trainer Jordan Maldonado, 41, who cops said sold real pills and vials of fake drugs to the wanna-be boxers training at his gym.

Maldonado, the star of "Bounce: Behind the Velvet Rope," a film about nightclub bouncers, got his wife - ninth-ranked junior lightweight boxer Cindy (Checkmate) Serrano - to push the drugs, too. But cops said they had no evidence Serrano used the stuff.

Serrano, 25, faces nine years in prison if convicted of the drug charges. A Queens judge set her bail at $10,000.

"My daughter is innocent. That's all I want to say," Serrano's mother said as she unleashed two small dogs on a reporter at her Brooklyn home. "She's innocent."

Well, at least Cindy Serrano should get by OK in prison. Aspiring porn star Vikki Comer, also among those charged, might have a harder time.
