I first became acquainted with the term "cougar" about ten years ago in The Bitter End on Bleecker St. in Manhattan. A woman in her early forties was cruising the bar, attempting to pick off very young guys. She was pretty hot, and a friend of mine pointed her out and said, "Look at that cougar." I was surprised this morning to learn that there is a cougar fetish site, called UrbanCougar. (Shame on me for that, btw, because if the internet has made one thing abundantly clear it's that there's a fetish for everything.) Dealbreaker, a new Wall St. blog, has outed one of the profiled "cougars" as a partner in San Francisco's Think Equity - a high profile investment and money management firm. It's hilarious, obviously, to see a partner in such a firm dressed up like a candy-striper and sucking on a chupa-chup while searching for twenty-something nookie, but I'm not sure how much I would laugh if those tables had been turned on me.
