Happy New Year
Saturday, 31 December 2005
I gotta tell you folks, I never thought I'd live to see 2006. I can remember thinking, thirty years ago tonight, that the year 2000 was 24 years away and something bad was sure to happen to me by then. Now it's 2K6 and I'm still around, and each day is a pleasant surprise.

However, the answer to the question I wanted to live to see has left me unsatisfied. I don't mind so much that we didn't get the flying cars or the Lagrange colonies - though God how I loved those Rick Guidice and Don Davis paintings. My six-year-old brain formulated one question that is still open: "What will Twentieth Century Fox call itself in the twenty-first century?" So far, it's still Twentieth Century Fox.

Poop.

I remember, as a child of the '70s, thinking that there would be hovercars & futuristic looking dwellings, and clothing out of Trek or Buck Rogers. Dwellings do look different, and autos look like they were designed by graduates of the Palmolive School of Auto Design but, still no flying cars or Trek-like fashions.

Do I remember that Futurerama at least at one point had 21st Century Fox as part of the opening or closing credits?
