Update: Microsoft Windows “critical updates” have without specific authorization rebooted millions of PCs over the last few days. My beat-up old mini-tower VAIO spontaneously shut itself down about 4am this morning. How do I know what time it happened? Because it blared the shutdown chime and woke me up, naturally. You would think that if Microsoft was going to restart millions of PCs at 4am, the company would have put in some code to turn off the sonic pyrotechnics. But it did not. I woke up fearing that someone had broken into my apartment to play Unreal Tournament 2004 and would mess-up my kill ratio, and so I spent 10 minutes sneaking around in the gloom with Molly, looking for prowlers.

The same set of stealth updates uninstalled Misty’s webcam setup without notice, so the chat was cancelled. She’ll back at her regular time on Monday, at 9pm EST/6pm PST. I recommend it - she’ll probably try to make up for everyone’s disappointment by going into overtime.
