Omega-3
Monday, 07 August 2006
I'm curious whether any Amaz0ns readers have experience with fish oil. I've been taking Udo's Choice Oil Blend on and off for several years at Anthony Ellis' suggestion. It's good stuff - a tablespoon in the morning has beneficial effects in keeping your body lean. I take it during the winter pretty religiously because it also keeps my skin from getting too dry.

Lately I have grown interested in trying fish oil as a source of omega-3, because my understanding is that the omega-3's in fish oil are more easily utilized by the body than those in grain and vegetable sources. I'd be interested in what knowledgeable readers have to say about that. I'd also be interested in dosage recommendations.

You want 2000mg of DHA and EPA combined daily (like 1300 DHA and 700 EPA or 900 DHA and 1100 EPA)

I've also found that the stuff is extremely effective at helping me concentrate.

Funny I was just wondering about Omega-3 myself.

Thanks. dadada, that's useful. I picked up a jar of Origin Natural Fish Oil Concentrate 1000mg gelcaps early in the week at Target, and I've been taking three per day. That only works out to 540mg of EPA and 360mg of EPA, though - 900mg total. So I should probably double that? What about keeping the proper ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3? That's one of the big benefits of Udo's Choice, that the oils are already in proper proportion.
