The saga of the stolen sidekick scares the shit out of me. If you wonder why I am such a stickler about intellectual property rights, this is it, and this, and this. The stolen sidekick saga is the future. It is a perfect example of why people can not afford to be assholes anymore.
If you think you have privacy today, you're wrong. Not because of anything any one person has done, but just because of the box you're staring at right now. So get over it. All the information is connected, and once found, people can share it instantaneously with large groups of other people. Any bad thing you do may touch off a flash mob that will drill into your presumption of anonymity and strip it away. So for God's sake, if you find somebody's phone or PDA or iPod in a cab, find them and give it back. And don't be an asshole to people who deserve better. Somebody may be recording you.
Tried to sell back the thing that they stole in the first place? bah....ingrates....

I mean I'm glad that the fellow got his Sidekick back, and that the thieves didn't get away with it, but still, I think it's regrettable that it's the fear of Big Brother's eye that'll show you be a jackhole (and not the fact it's breaking the Golden Rule) that'll stop you from swiping a gizmo. :sigh
