The ass of All-Star Wonder Woman
It's hard to believe that when July rolls around we'll already be at All-Star Batman & Robin #5! Skeptics argue that to develop a following, an ostensibly monthly comic must be released with a frequency greater than twice a year - but the ace team of Frank Miller and Jim Lee have proved the skeptics wrong!

Yeah. Um, since there is nobody left who is remotely enthusiastic about this dog, I suppose it falls upon me to promote the introduction of All-Star Wonder Woman (hurrah) in issue #5. That's her ass, right there, in the blue skirt, appearing on the "variant" cover. Frank Miller deemed it appropriate to depict Wonder Woman with his initials tattooed on her inner thigh, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about Frank Miller. (And if I wasn't still the owner of a cherry, bagged copy of a first issue, first edition of The Dark Knight Returns [comparison], I might tell you what I really think.)

They kind of have a lot of balls issuing variant covers, don't they? Maybe if they took some of the time invested in the variant cover and instead committed it to actually delivering the non-variant goddamned book, the delivery velocity might increase from "glacial" to "tortoise-like"?

And in issue #6, Miller and Lee introduce Batgirl! Hopefully you've been keeping up with your IRA or 401(K) contributions, so that you'll have the money set aside to purchase it when it's released.

And not to beat a dead horse, but the delivery schedule for the book reads as follows:

Eenie, meenie, miney, WTF!?

Let's go over that again, for those of you who are dyscalculic:
  • All-Star Batman & Robin #3 - January
  • All-Star Batman & Robin #4 - May
  • All-Star Batman & Robin #5 - July
  • All-Star Batman & Robin #6 - June
Such an error can really mean only one of two things - either the editorial staff has so completely lost faith and interest in the delivery of this book that they can't even be bothered to remember that June precedes July (It does! I swear! Look it up!), or they're talking about June, 2007. Which is entirely possible given the history of this comic.

Either way, I ain't holdin' my breath and neither should you. Note to DC: it's called a "schedule", and my friends who own comic book shops are beginning to loathe you because you don't seem to understand what the word means. Get the goddamned books out on time.

It doesn't matter anymore, which is why I stopped reading comics more than a decade ago. You'll get the comics when they TELL you you'll get them, and you'll be damned good and grateful for the mere opportunity to buy them, see?

The problem as I see it is with the comic collectors. If they had some willpower and just said "Not on time? I ain't buying it," publishers would crack the whip a lot more readily. But the truth of the matter is that most comic collectors let the publishers lead them around by the nose because they just GOTTA see Power Girl's new ability to rotate her left asscheek 183 degrees counterclockwise in late Spring.

:zzz

All Star Bats is so disappointing. what's the use of having Wonder Woman anyway? I didn't even like Jim Lee's design back in the Superman comics.

What series has delivered more joy to it's readers than All Star Batman? Granted it all comes from making fun of it, but that's better than anything Marvel's done in years.

...that Superman appears in #4, I would've given up after #3. I don't expect much but, somehow Batman will beat Superman up using kryptonite. That's how Miller sees Superman, as Batman's personal punching bag.
