Comic Book Legal Defense Fund
OK, on the one hand I'm a little annoyed by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund's new Liberty Comics, because it exaggerates minor events to make a case that the First Amendment (freedom of speech) to the U.S. Constitution is in danger. However, "eternal vigilance" and so on, I'm willing to give the CBLDF a pass.

I'm also willing to give them a pass because I think this is the first comic published in ten years to feature the magnificent Ann Darrow O'Brien, super strong science hero star of Monkeyman & O'Brien. She's naked, wrapped in red tape. Her amazing muscular arms are on full display. And it's drawn by the heroine's creator, the great Arthur Adams. They gave him the centerfold, which is pretty cool. O'Brien is there, nekkid with Monkeyman, being chased through the streets by people intolerant of nekkidness. And you should all buy it.

It is worth noting that Ann O'Brien first appeared in Dark Horse Comics the same year Hellboy did - 1993. Both characters enjoyed similar popularity and if Art Adams was as diligent as Mike Mignola in drawing and promoting his characters, maybe we would have seen Monkeyman & O'Brien - The Movie by now. It's not too late, Art. We believe in you.

Having been a supporter of the CBLDF for a long time I don't think they exaggerate. Malicious prosecution drove one comic shop out of business in Oklahoma City. The prosecutor used the RICO act to seize all of the owners assets bankrupting him and his partner.
The latest episode where the CBLDF won can be read here.
The defense cost $100,000 dollars and took 3 years. Without it the store owner was looking at jail time and heavy fines.

Thanks for the heads up Lingster.

I was at Comic Con this weekend, and I happened to find this comic at the CBLDF booth.

The Ann O'brien pic is truly amazing, and worth it to see Ann O'Brien so muscular. I have never seen her so buff, I loved it.

Good God, I didn't think I'd see anymore of the lovely Ms. O'Brien for a long time. I managed to get a hold of every Monkeyman and O'Brien comic that was done, and now Art Adams does it again. I'll definitely have to pick this up. Way to save the day again, Lingster!

I finally bought the Ann O'Brien action figure. She's not as tall as She-Hulk, but they go well together.
