I spotted this auction for "Arthur Adams Elseworlds Battle Royale Art" on eBay, and I'm left drooling and wishing I had $20,000 to spare. I cropped the full panoramic image above, to show just the part where the spectacularly overdeveloped Elseworld's Finest Supergirl and Amazonia Wonder Woman spar, while the Earth-2 Huntress leaps over the Gotham By Gaslight Bat-Man. Very fun stuff. To quote from the listing:
Wizard commissioned Arthur to produce a battle scene featuring some of DC's popular Elseworlds characters. And, hoo boy, did he ever produce. If the enormity of this piece needs further explanation then this is no auction for you. Those of you who appreciate masterful art then here's an opportunity to own what will (is) an iconic piece from a true master of the artform. That said, another awesome piece, which oozes everything that makes Arthur one of the most sought after artists in the industry.
Click through so you can see the Dark Knight Batman slapping the crazy right out of Watchmen's Rorschach. The auction ends Nov-05-07 19:09:02 PST.
It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
...to see it in Wizard but it's not worth $13,000!

Art Adams produces so little output of this complexity and novelty that demand far outstrips supply. Thus the $13,000 price tag. In 20 years his stuff will probably be selling for several times this.

It's going for 13,300 and it's still "reserve not met". Odd that something like this can go for that much.
Don't get me wrong, the work is very good. I guess if it's some famous piece that was featured somewhere, and they're now selling the original or something.

Quantify it all you want, it's still not worth $13K, in my opinion. Add to that the greed of the seller, and it will probably have to be re-listed, unless there's a last minute bidding war.
