This last week was a banner one for buff chicks on comic book covers. First off there was The Spirit #4, with a great cover by writer and artist Darwyn Cooke (at right). The Spirit is a great title, and not merely because the Spirit is forever getting knocked unconscious or injured and having his bacon saved by a foxy uber-girl! It's a revival of Will Eisner's classic character and the series is clearly a labor of love for Cooke. Still, in issue #4, the Spirit gets knocked unconscious and then injured, and CIA agent Silk Satin is left no alternative but to physically lift and carry him out of the danger zone: Mexico. I am really enjoying the series.
There's also a new graphic novel out called Empowered. It's by Adam Warren and features a buff and sexy chick flexing on the cover. That's all I know about it at this point, but it's a great cover.
The Spirit is a great comic, and the woman, Satin Silk, is pretty strong and hard core. If I recall, a feat of incredible strength is how she beats the villain...
