Invincible #44

Well, here's a good reason to go visit your local comics retailer: Invincible #44 has a new badgirl.

Also check out Speak of the Devil #1 by Gilbert Hernandez - the protagonist is a nicely built gymnast.

Lingster, what do you think about Beto's latest flash-forward in his main Love and Rockets storyline? I guess he figured he took Petra's muscle growth as far as it could go, because he's skipped a few years ahead and she's gotten fat--a sort of "let herself go" look in issue 19, and some real obesity in issue 20.

Beto's apparently amusing himself with Guadalupe and Venus now. Guadalupe was always skinny and boyishly built, the one daughter of Luba who didn't have a huge rack. In the flash-forward she's had a kid, and that's finally filled her out - she's stacked now. Venus has grown into a teenager with the muscular build she always joked/feared she'd inherit from her mom, Petra.

My feeling about the changes? Beto couldn't have kept adding muscle to Petra unless he gave her a competitive body-building storyline. I'm just waiting to see what he'll do with Venus.
