There are lots of doings over in comic book land, so let's get to 'em.
Alex in Wonderland is upset about DC Comics' latest big mega-event, Amazons Attack! Why am I looking forward to it so much? [Amazons Attack...Do they have to Die?]
This is what Power Girl looks like after artist Michael Turner was asked to draw her breasts smaller. [And This After They Reduced The Breasts!]
From the same blog, we have the spectre of Dark Mary Marvel. Which kinda makes me laugh. [Ami's Fears Come True: Black Mary Marvel]
Giantess fans scroll down to a great Rita Farr image! [Bigger Than A Breadbox... And Twice As Deadly!]
A comparison between the characters of Ms. Marvel and Wonder Woman, two super-strong super-hotties. [We Used To Like Ms. Marvel]
In Michael Turner's defense, I'm probably a better artist than him.

I'm no comic fan or expert, but the Amazons Attack stuff depresses me. Why? Well, we all know that mainstream society can't let strong (both mentally and physically) women get away without being cut down to size, can we? We've got to put them in their place! :(

It's a weird parallel to their original role in Greek Mythology, where they only show up to get beaten by male heroes (through either violence, or love, or both)
The comic-book Amazons getting slaughtered so often is probably part of the same phenomenon, but I doubt it's a deliberate reference.

In issue #13 Ms. Marvel punched Iron Man for the crap she had to do during Civil War. Now she's made a deal to have her own strike force to do the work she believes in, in return she leads the Mighty Avengers. As for Arachne, we'll see how she negotiates with Julia to get her to Canada and into Omega Flight.
