One
of my favorite comics is the Hernandez Brothers' Love and Rockets
series. They have published the comic under numerous titles,
but the rambling list of characters doesn't change terribly much over
the years, though the characters themselves do change, like real people. It's a
novelty in the comics world to see characters who age and who
progress. When Bruce Wayne first appeared he was about my
grandfather's age, and now he's about my age - he hasn't changed since
1940.When Petra and her sister Fritz first appeared, as shown at
right, they were simply big-busted party fodder. That was around 1990 -
the image of Petra with the big boobs and the twig-like arms is from Complete Love & Rockets #10 The
chest development of both women started out as very substantial, and
there have been long, long storylines written about their breasts,
their mother's breasts, and their half-sister Luba's breasts. Mostly to
reject her mother, but also because they had gotten ridiculously big
after the birth of her first child, Petra had a breast reduction. Her
sister Fritz, at left in upper the panel, has also grown larger in the
chest over the years, seemingly getting bustier and bustier with every
issue. She's kinda silly big at this point, but I'm not going to
complain. I mean, if it was up to me every comic book would have
women built like her.At any rate, breasts aren't the only thing that have grown over the
years. About eight or ten years ago, after her reduction, Petra began
lifting weights seriously. And those twiggy arms have gotten bigger,
and bigger, and bigger. The panel at left comes from Luba #10, and I
suspect it will be reprinted in Luba: The Book of Ofelia Related Items:
