Planet Comics #46
Sunday, 14 May 2006
ImageThis is possibly the best comic cover ever from the perspective of those who favor heroically-proportioned women. In this 1947 cover of Planet Comics #46, a powerfully built woman lifts a bound man with one hand while she grips an aircraft ladder with the other. It was drawn by Joe Doolin.

Copies are frequently available on EBay. A company called Rainfall also sells posters featuring that cover.

I've never been able to find out anything about the story from which the cover is taken, though I assume from the ruins in the background it's a "Lost World" story.

There's currently a copy of this on eBay for $121. I think I'll wait for a more affordable copy.

I haven't seen a cheaper copy, and I've been watching eBay for one. It's very in demand, probably specifically for the reason I mention. What I want to know is - who owns the rights to all these old Fiction House comics?
