I figured "Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk" #1 for one of those typical Marvel superhero vs. Marvel superhero slugfests, but it's something a bit different. Nick Fury contacts Logan (Wolverine) and has him come to his private office in Harlem. Fury has become convinced that Bruce Banner survived his putative execution, after having been convicted of mass murder for a Hulk rampage in Manhattan that killed 800 people. "I thought you nuked him?" asks Logan. "We did. He's a little tougher than we thought," Fury responds. Fury believes Banner/Hulk to be in Tibet, and asks Logan to go there and kill him. With finality. And the ensuing superhero slugfest goes in a different direction than any I've every seen before. Two different directions, in fact - miles apart. This issue also introduces Ultimate Jen Walters, a S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist and former colleague of Bruce Banner. She has access to the hulk serum vault, which is pretty cool and opens up numerous potential plotlines. Better still, she is already pretty randy, making several suggestive comments to Logan when they're alone. In Banner, the hulk serum unleashes his repressed anger and sexual urges. In someone fairly unrepressed to begin with, who knows what might happen? The writer of the comic is Damon Lindelof, one of the creators of "Lost." He's trying his hand at comics and it's a good piece of work. Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #1 - Marvel.com Related Items:
