OK, I've got good news and bad news. Kinda guy I am, I like to go with the bad news first, so here it is: the feature film adaptation of hit martial arts babes videogame Dead or Alive is so abysmally awful that it will not be shown in U.S. theaters.

Whew! That was rough. Now for the good news: it is going straight to DVD and will be released in April. Here's the vacant DVD page at Amazon.com.

Not sure how that is a bad thing, I know the premise of the movie and all...so surely it far outweighs the fact it's not going to be in cinema that you can watch it alone in the comfort of your own nudity...

Had the movie been a box office success, there likely would have been sequels. Even if the DVD sales are very strong, it's unlikely a sequel will be made.

I picked up an import DVD of the movie (it's been out overseas for months) and found it to be highly entertaining garbage. Plus: Jaime Pressly is remarkably buff and ludicrously hot. In a trashy way, of course.
