Jennifer Carter has the beauty and the brawn on 'Beauty and the Geek'
I was not aware of amazonic Jennifer Carter on this season's "Beauty and the Geek" until just the other day. Given past casting standards on the show, "Jenn" is unusually statuesque and physically imposing for a female contestant. She has a serious jock background: Jenn attended Northeastern on a rowing scholarship and post-college she's still committed to putting in time at the gym. For the duration of her time on season four of "Beauty and the Geek", Jenn is paired up with a comic book nerd named William, and at a burly 5'10" she is noticeably taller, broader and stronger than her partner. Promotional material for the show often shows Jenn carrying William around on her shoulder [right], or flexing her pronounced muscles [above].
Jennifer carries her partner, William
Normally "Beauty and the Geek" pairs brains with beauty, but Jenn is obviously both beauty and brawn. Her unusual physical competence will hopefully give the team an edge, but her heroic proportions and physical strength make William seem more an accessory than a partner. Various reality show forum contributors have expressed interest or dislike of Jenn's imposing height and athleticism. Some seem to resent the change in formula implicit in Jennifer Carter's casting, because she is not merely a standard-issue "beauty" but is also physically more capable than the nerdy males. According to the Vermillion's Brain Receptacle blog:
[Jennifer Carter] is an Amazon. She bench-presses 135 (as she puts it, "more than the last girl who came in here"). She is tall and quite athletic. She can probably fold up these guys like lawn chairs. Best way I could describe her is "blonde Jessica Biel". Take from that what you will.
I'm not one for reality shows, but just from that blurb I want to watch the show. "Beauty and the Geek" airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on the CW Network.
Update: Check out a gallery of screen grabs of Jennifer Carter from the 16 October 2007 episode of "Beauty and the Geek".
Yet more buff-chick prejudice. We must reverse this trend soon.

Jeeze, the blogger appears to be intimated (put off?) by the likes of her???
Don't have to imagine his/her reaction to someone on the lines of Britt Miller - probably would implode in abject terror.

Precisely - she's hardly a mass monster.

According to the show's website, she went on an athletic scholarship to study journalism. She's strong, beautiful, and seems bright. So who's the geek in this pairing?

Jenn isn't into it

I'm watching the show now, and it seems pretty obvious that Jenn isn't into the whole thing. The geeks are all socially clueless, and most of the beauties are dumb as rocks. I imagine it would be difficult for a well-adjusted, bright person to avoid going crazy surrounded by these people. (Assuming Jenn is well-adjusted and bright.)

OK, 20 minutes later a bunch of them have sorta grown on me. So maybe the shortcomings of the geeks and beauties aren't so tremendous.
