Charles in Charge Season Two
Charles in Charge - The Complete Second Season
Well, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that Charles in Charge: The Complete Second Season is finally being released on DVD, almost two years after the first season was released and twenty years after it first aired on American TV. The bad news is that the female bodybuilder episode - "Barbelles" - was aired at the end of the third season. What is "Barbelles" about? Here's the TV Guide episode summary:

Charles breaks up with his girlfriend and falls for a female bodybuilder. Scott Baio, Willie Aames. Janice: Janice Falconer. Jamie: Nicole Eggert. Sarah: Josie Davis. Adam: Alexander Polinsky.

Concise to a fault, no? The TV.com summary has more detail:

After Charles (SCOTT BAIO) is devastated at being dumped by his girlfriend, Buddy (WILLIE AAMES) fixes him up with Beth (BRENDA SWANSON), a female bodybuilder at his health club. All is bliss until Beth's former boyfriend, Mike (RICHARD BROSE), shows up and tells Charles he'd better leave Beth alone or else. When news of the threat gets around, Buddy (WILLIE AAMES) and the Powells advise Mike not to hurt Charles. Not wanting to back down from a bully, and yet aware that he and Beth are attracted to each other only because they are both on the rebound, Charles confronts Beth and Mike, explaining his view of the situation and encourages themto get back together. All is resolved. Charles will now get a chance to date that cute girl he met in aerobics class.

Better news still - Erika Eleniak also appears in "Barbelles" and two other episodes in season three. All I can say is that if this disc set sells well, season three may be released sooner than 2009.

Charles in Charge: Complete Second Season is scheduled for 20 November 2007 release.
