I'm slowly coming around to "Saving Grace", the Holly Hunter show on TNT. I watched it last night for the fourth or fifth time, and I found myself beginning to feel interest in the characters. If I were to diagram the show, it would be one part "Touched By An Angel", one part "NYPD Blue" and one part Bad Lieutenant. Holly Hunter plays an Oklahoma City police detective whose life has been on a long, slow, downward spiral for the last dozen years, since the Murrah Building bombing. She is visited by a "last chance angel" named Earl, who also appears to have seen better days. She commonly runs into Earl in bars and other places an angel would not be expected to linger. The characters in the show are all complex and driven by various interests, beliefs and stances on faith. The focus of the show is on Grace's struggle, but it's really an ensemble cast with lots of depth. Cynics will claim I'm only writing about "Saving Grace" because Holly Hunter is really buff and a recent guest-star was Frances Fisher, another buff actress. But hey, it's a good show. It airs Mondays on TNT. ["Saving Grace" - TNT]
