Many readers will remember "El Show de Xuxa", a mescaline-esque Brazilian children's TV export that launched an English-language version in the early 90s. Xuxa presaged the whole Disney-alumni-whore phenomenon of Britney, Christina, Lindsay, etc., by featuring jailbait dressed in strip-club versions of the costumes worn by the animatronic characters on the "It's a Small World" ride at the Magic Kingdom. I remember catching my first episode late one Saturday morning following a night of debauchery, and then nearly puking on the sofa as a bunch of 14-year-old chippies dressed like extras from a Times Square porn theatre rendition of The Nutcracker Suite wiggled their pubescent asses out on stage while singing songs aimed at the show's 4 to 6 year old target demographic.

I'd been able to put "El Show de Xuxa" and its unfortunately sexualized (young) teenaged girls out of my head until about 15 minutes ago, when I discovered an almost-inexplicably dissonant 1993 cross-marketing promotion between "El Show de Xuxa" and "American Gladiators" on YouTube, featuring gladiator Shelley Beattie, aka "Siren". Viewers are treated to the spectacle of a beautiful, deaf, hypermuscular woman performing a real-time sign language translation of an alphabet song sung by Xuxa. (Xuxa's wardrobe on this episode makes her look like a whored-out von Trapp daughter.) Adding insult to injury, Beattie is misidentified as Xuxa's friend "Sarah".

Xuxa was actually fairly buff herself, but next to Beattie's bulging muscles she looks pretty slender.

Though I dislike Xuxa myself, I would not use such words as whore to apply to anyone just because I do not like them, or because they are blond foreigners or women.

Moreover, teenagers are not 'sexualized'. Teenagers are already sexual by definition: if someone is not sexual yet, it is because he/she has not achieved adolescence/ puberty yet. Nature is nature.

Maybe Pele's ex couldn't pronounce the word SIREN and "Sarah" was as close as she could get. I won't lie, I kinda, sorta liked it. Usually meant half an hour till Ducktales came on. :lol: :lol:
