I mentioned Alphie Newman earlier this week as an example of a young woman who was stunningly gorgeous and strong. Turns out others remember her, as well, because there are several videos of her on YouTube, including a posing routine aired on ESPN.
Newman was a major phenomenon in the early 90s fitness and physique scene. She was gorgeous, sexy and seriously athletic - her initial entry was as a powerlifter and she was extremely good at it.
In the mid and late 90s there were numerous Usenet and forum threads asking "whatever happened to Alphie Newman". Various theories were put forward. I was never terribly interested in them - I think we were just lucky to have her around for as long as we did.
