No matter how hard you try, you'll never be as strong as Ali Huston. Huston is 20 years old, beautiful, and has made a recent splash in figure competition, winning the NPC collegiate title last weekend. But where she's really made her mark is powerlifting, because Ali Huston is freakishly, almost off-the-charts strong. I can't find any info indicating whether she intends to keep lifting competitively, but last year in competition she did a 551 pound squat, a 275 bench press and a 518 pound deadlift, while weighing about 180 pounds.
That's crazy strong. There's probably more iron on a bar laden with 551 pounds than there is in most late model Cadillacs. The technical term for Huston's kind of strength is "that's not supposed to be possible." According to a profile in her college paper, only two women have ever deadlifted more than 600 pounds in competition, and both were larger than Huston. So pound for pound she may be the strongest woman who ever lived. (Her mentor,
Becca Swanson, is very likely the strongest woman who ever lived, bar none.)
Anyway, I hope she keeps powerlifting, because it tickles me to think that there's a raven-haired beauty like Huston out there, possessing three or four times the physical strength of a "normal" person. There's abundant potential for hilarious "Excuse me little lady, can I help you with your bags?" situations involving Huston, and I love those. (In fact, in her shoes I'd wander around town carrying two suitcases laden with 80 or 100 pounds each, just for shits and giggles. You could build a whole episode of "America's Funniest Home Videos" around poor saps struggling to carry just one of the pretty girl's two bags.)
Finally, check out GeneX Online Magazine for more on Huston (that's where I "borrowed" the top photo). People seem very excited about Huston's future - GeneX writes that "Huston could easily compete on an open stage at the National level, so keep an eye out for the young Nebraskan." So hopefully we'll all be seeing a lot more of Ali Huston.
The strongest woman is one that I know very well. Julie Scalon who bench pressed 432 1lbs and squat 555 lbs. A matter a fact she competes against the men. Maryland home grown.

Commitment and genetics. The interesting question would be, "Why is she so committed?"

I knew she looked familiar! My friends and I were working out a few months ago at our school gym (same as hers) and saw her doing deadlifts. We were shocked by how much weight she had on the bar--and she just kept adding plates. Blew our minds.

Who cares who the strongest woman in the world is. No offense to any of them. All im saying is that Ali is obviously very strong and amazingly goregeous. She did a great job at the competion and deserves more recognition than people trying to criticize the writer.
