Canada.com profiles uber-woman Mariam Power-Ritzand in yesterday's edition. Power-Ritzand was formerly a champion powerlifter, but has moved into physique modeling competitions. She competes in the International Natural Bodybuilding Association [INBA], and on August 25th she won the number one spot in the Athletic-Physique Model category.

INBA is a great federation that actively and ferociously drug tests competitors using the same techniques as major non-bodybuilding sports, including the Olympics. Tragically, INBA has a very, very bad web site. I hesitate to even link it, and warn you to turn down the volume if you're at work. Volume down? OK, here it is. You were warned.

Back to the lovely Mariam Power-Ritzand:

She's taken the glamourous life over raw power through necessity.

"From powerlifter to model, it's quite the switch," said Power-Ritzand. "I got in a car accident 4 1/2 years ago . I had three world records and was on my way to another world record and got in the accident. That's the way that was."

She was muscular, but she stopped short of being overly muscular.

"Even when I was in the sport of powerlifting at the world level, I made sure I still looked like the fitness type, know what I mean,"

Twixpix has a gallery of Power-Ritzand from 2006.
