Here's a relatively new media article on a semi-muscular girl...

Don't Worry, Mr. Stokke, I'm Not a Creepy Stalker

That's scary - are we a part of that process that's described in the Stokke article?

We weren't part of the process until Iri added her name to this post. I was aware of her but because she's still in high school didn't post her name or any links.

You're welcome. ;)

In all seriousness, I do feel for the girl--and suspect that her dad is not terribly happy either. A search for the name on the internet predictably turns up some pretty crude stuff--not exactly flattering.

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. What I meant was the general process of freaking out female athletes by dint of our views and likes. I must confess that, whilst she is (just) of full age for a UK audience, I still wasn't overly comfortable with her being mentioned here. The overt and extreme sexualisation mentioned does make me feel uncomfy.

As for the articles you linked, Lingster, I do feel a little wary about
the Arlington Heights story. It seems
to be a cleverly-marketed way of selling religion (which, IMO can be cheapened by excessive salespersonship) under the pretext of life decision information in a nation that hardly lacks in churches of all denominations. Yes, it's cool that they're using female strength, but the apparent "Believe in Jesus andyou will be able to run through blocks of ice" (huh?) stuff seems far-fetched.

The article on Elise Huxtable is my sort of reporting; straight, no-nonsense, well-balanced stuff that uses Cook's expertise to paint a good picture for the average reader. I also like the way that the drugs issue is treated. She looks to be a name for the future. Speaking of 'roids, I was impressed with the WBAL article and accompanying video. Yes, perhaps a little overblown, but what can one expect? In general, a salutory lesson that, for women at least, just taking loads of steroids unscientifically is going to have major side effects. I didn't know they could be physically addictive, though.

I thought "Lifting and breaking heavy things for Jesus" properly conveyed my disdain and wry amusement.

The "Power Team" is still around?? I remember hearing of them, I guess, 15 years ago. Back then they didn't have any female members, or at least any that I knew of.

I did wonder, but I didn't want to presume about anyone's religious beliefs, or lack thereof, or views on this group. Very witty turn of phrase though.
