Here's a New Zealand TV network's Olympic coverage promo featuring Valerie Vili. Vili is a shot-putter with the New Zealand team, who won the gold medal in the event at the Beijing Olympics. She is 23 years old, and stands 6'4" at 243 pounds. Vili attributes her height to her father's side of the family, and her freakish strength to her mother's. (Dad's English and Mom's Tongan.)

I saw a bit of the BBC coverage of the shot-put and was blown-away by her size and athleticism. Truly an Amazon.

There was a story of her basically steam rollering over the security people at the Olympics when she went to get a flag from her father after she won the gold.

The rowers asked Vili about the post-race incidents of the night before - when some of the smaller security guards tried to stop her greeting her coach in the grandstand as the shot putter did her victory lap...

The 23-year-old then had everyone laughing - "She tried to manhandle me which was not a good idea since she was half my size". According to Vili, when the girl tried to grab her and pull her back, it felt like "she was pinching my arm".
