Aneta Florczyk Guinness
Tuesday, 13 January 2009

I think I had this dream once - an incredibly strong woman sequentially lifting a dozen skinny guys over her head - but Polish strongwoman Aneta Florczyk actually performed the feat a few weeks back on Spanish TV. And she set a world record doing it!

Check out a video of Florczyk's rival for the record, Spain's Irene Gutierrez after the jump.

Light weight, baby, light weight. Aneta's lifting records in clean and jerk 135 and log lift of 115 kilos indicate, that those guys are pretty light for her.

Notice also difference in techniques between Aneta and Irene: the Spaniard keeps her guy facing the same direction as she and keeps her left arm in the upper arm of the "weight", whereas "Van Horn" keeps the guy facing to the floor and has her left arm below the weight's chest. Doing it this way, Aneta has a lot longer lifting distance and thus she has to do more work, but in the same time she has better balance.

Which way is the easier, I don't know, but Florczyk looked a lot stronger. Shame they didn't show Gutierrez's performance. Maybe she did it differently in the show than she did in that video.

well now you can also see Gutierrez's perfomance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96TyC9ROqrA& feature=channel_page

It was actually more close than I thought it to be. Irene had a lot better technique than in those previous videos. Still though, Aneta's lifts were lot more stable and explosive.

I don't know if anybody reads this but she's going to try to break this record 21st of April in Spain. Let's wait and see.
