The Australian TV program "George Negus Tonight" interviewed circus strong woman and trapeze artist Anni Davey back in 2004. The transcript is available on the Australian Broadcasting Company's site. A few choice bits:
JANE CUNNINGHAM: This has long been Anni's passion. In her 20-year career she's gone from acting and singing to more vigorous feats. In the late '80s she joined the frenetic Circus Oz.
ANNI DAVEY: I was just an actor, you know?
JANE CUNNINGHAM: No circus skills?
ANNI DAVEY: None at all. (Laughs) So, I sort of took myself off to Paris and taught myself trapeze, basically. It's pretty full-on. I mean, you have to concentrate on eating enough, sleeping enough, trying not to drink too much, trying not to... When you're in a performing week, to do any of that sort of stuff just sets you back.
