Freya Write-up

Amaz0ns got a nice write-up on Freya Magazine the other day. At least I think it's nice - site owner Lothaire used too many big French words for me to figure it out. (Though I'm pretty sure he expresses amusement at the American attachment to fan fiction.)

I confirm. It's a very positive article about Amaz0ns and the community around it.

I speak French, and have worked informally as a French -> English translator, so I'll provide a translation here:

The inevitable meeting place for fans of female bodybuilding and muscle art, Amaz0ns is the web site that gathers every variety of observer from around the world to discuss their passions. The site, Amaz0ns.com, was built on the ruins of Wreck-Shop and Transvigor. In reality, for those who followed the birth and evolution of the site, Amaz0ns is nothing but the evolution of Transvigor, Lingster's old site, which was itself an evolution of the original blog, pompously called "the Mighty Lingster blog", which served as an outlet for the American webmaster's sometimes doubtful, and very chauvinistic (to be polite) heart.

With the closure of the Wreck-Shop forums, which consisted of all sorts of amateur female muscle artists, an empty space was opened that Lingster moved to fill. Consisting of an enormous forum, it serves themes as diverse as female muscle in comics, to the social impact of feminine culture, to even the famous "fan-fictions" that Americans are particularly fond of, Amaz0ns has become an incontrovertible nexus of the web for anyone interested in anything relating to feminine culture. It's therefore not rare to see postings by such well known artists as Yatz57, FemXman, DCM or even Chris Morrisson.

*** Note: OK, at this point, I had to leave to do something else, and when I returned I'm too tired to finish translating the rest of this. Bug me via PM if you want the rest translated. Nobody ever seems to read these comments anyhow ***

Bien sûr, il y aura toujours quelques mauvaises langues pour qualifier ce site de "nid à schmoes" et il est vrai qu'en ratissant large, il est difficile de contrôler l'évolution naturelle d'un forum. Vous savez, le forum, cette petite bête que vous mettez au monde et qui grandit et change à votre insu avant un jour ou l'autre de vous cracher au visage en vous disant que...

Why is my heart doubtful? I don't think it's doubtful.

I may be mistranslating it. French in France is a bit different from Quebec French, and I'm translating that part a bit too literally. I'm almost certainly missing something. I've lived my entire life in a French-speaking province, but it still isn't my native tongue. I might interpret it as saying that some of the situations wished for are doubtful (unrealistic perhaps), but it's a guess.

My interpretation of the article is that it pretty much says that Amaz0ns is a great thing, but not without its faults. So, very positive, but also realistic.

I'll have to remember to finish up the rest of the translation some time.
