Do you think the Maury clip is a fake?

Fake in what sense? Since it was on television it is a mediated event, which means that it is not true in any strict sense of the word. (Nothing on television is strictly true.) Yet there is some kernel of truth in that all four involved parties came to the table because of a unifying sexual preference, namely females who are physically more imposing than their male partner.

My feeling was that it all seemed too odd to be even remotely related to reality. Unfortunately, UK TV is heading in the same direction, but...I don't know, it just didn't fit. The ladies seemed to be very lukewarm around the "schmoe", and he just seemed like he was trying to act, but not doing a very good job.

How this likely would have worked, IMHO, is that someone in the production office for Maury would have become aware of this small man who prefers to be with larger, stronger women. He would have been interviewed to see how he would perform on TV.

Once it was decided to go forward with the program, it would be necessary to find the yin to his yang. An ad would have been placed in a show biz trade paper seeking formidably-developed, sexually dominant women. Now, even if these women generally prefer men who are shorter and/or weaker than themselves, it doesn't necessarily follow that they'd be attracted to the gentleman already selected for the program.

So their interest in him was very likely theatrical.

I had basically guessed that the ladies would not particularly have had to have found him attractive (for heaven's sake, even I'm better-looking from him, and I'm usually the ugly mug wherever I am), so their lack of interest in him per se wasn't a surprise. What I though seemed fake was:

1./ The schmoe himself. Theresa in particular was, to me, especially sexy; and, similarly, I'd have thought that he'd have shown more obvious signs of finding one or other of the ladies to be jaw-droppingly attractive. Instead, he seemed to be forcing the signs of attraction - the 'placing his hands on her shoulders and massaging them' seemed so contrived as to be ridiculous.

2./ Two out of the three ladies (Theresa excepted) seemed to be having a hard job convincing themselves that they liked shorter men, let alone convincing the audience of that fact.

Perhaps I'm just too much of a cynic.
