Move Status
Friday, 17 November 2006
OK, Amaz0ns has been moved to a new webhost. The new DNS settings should be mostly propagated around the world by now. Forums will be back online by 1am EST or so.

Update 1:30 am EST: Or not. Having trouble and I need to get some sleep. So I'm leaving the forum to upload overnight and I'll try to turn it back on when I wake up.

Update 7:10 am EST: Almost there but I've got to get to work. Noon seems doable.

Update 9:36 am EST: Still working on it. (Pain in the ass.)

Update 2:20 pm EST: OK, the forum is up and running. It's probably a little glitchy but I should be able to fix all that over the weekend. Have a party.

And we gratefully thank you for your efforts! 8)

BTW - Don't get angry, get a bigger hammer . . . it works wonders for me.

If this move is successful it actually cuts the cost of operating the site, which will be welcome.

which webhost did you move to?

I did about four days of research, contacted various people who run sites with similar software and user volume, and decided on PowerVPS, which is owned by Defender Hosting. I've filed three customer service requests thus far, all associated with getting things up and running, and all three responses have come within an hour. So far I'm very happy.

I think I found one of the glitches you mentioned: All the thread links seem to be scrambled. I try to open one thread, and I get a totally different one.

Well, number one I hope that you're kidding. Number two I'll need you to document where exactly this has happened or is happening.

Well, I've mainly run into the problem in the "Show unread posts since last visit" list, but oddly, it seems to have cleared up there. I haven't had time to check around the board itself, though...

I ran into it last night for a bit. Restarting the browser seemed to have fixed it.

I hope that's what it is, anyway. We have 36,000 posts and I would not relish the task of checking them to make sure they're in the right place.

This is happening to me as well. Most recently (like, a couple of minutes ago) I tried to open "Alright, alright, Ed Benes is ultracool" and got "Cindy Phillips" instead. That's not the only instance, but it was the most recent and thus the one I remember best.
JimmyDimples - I gots glitches, too   | Author | 2006-11-19 09:14:56
:( When I did a search on "hug art" and clicked on the entries, I was spewed out to two different items... on the SAME LINK.

WTF is "hug art"?

I've been experiencing those glitches, too - they're in the Female Muscle Growth stories section.
Muscle Growth Nut - They're back...   | Manager | 2006-11-20 22:45:50
I'm running into them again, this time on the main page. The "Show unread posts" link leads to a printable version of a thread from the GTS Art forum, and most of the board links lead either to profiles or the Women's Competitive Athletics board.

...And now they're gone again.
Lingster - Yeah   | Super Administrator | 2006-11-21 08:54:07
I know what's causing them, sort of. I just haven't figured out why or how. Basically, all the forum links get run through Joomla and translated into Joomla-format links before they get kicked out to your browser. In some circumstances, Joomla is basically mis-translating them. I don't know why yet.
