Do thin guys feel spindly around muscular girls?

Points of clarity: How so? ???

Are you speaking for yourself, asking us from our personal experience(s) or in general?  8)

Do you mean as in feeling intimated by them while working out in the gym?  :o

Speaking from personal experience, no.

I'm a runner so I'm always going to be skinny and that's just how my body is and I've no problem with that.  I'm totally comfortable in my body and don't feel spindly or intimidated or anything when I'm hanging out with my muscular friend/FBB.  The contrast between us is dramatic which always excites me, but she's my friend first and while I find her incredibly attractive she's not an object of lust or whatever...

This topic has always been intersting to me. I know its super popular as a story topic, but I always wondered does it translate into real life. As for me I've never been intimidated by a muscluar woman in real life, but then again I don't really qualify as 'thin' under any circumstances ;) I used to play football and powerlift in my younger days. I did date a couple of girls who were more than a couple inches taller than me, I'm about 5'11" and one of them was 6'1 and the other was about 6'3" with no shoes on. I only had one request, "Please don't wear high heels on prom night"

It's always interesting at the gym when there's a particularly muscular girl.  More often than not, it's muscular woman.  As a matter of fact, women are easier to talk to about it than girls, with myself being rather young and obviously not trying to flirt.

The last really good time I encountered one of these ladies, I simply asked her if she was involved in any kind of figure competitions.  She wasn't (could have been, though) but was quite flattered with the question.  It led to a small, pretty easy-going conversation.  It might have been just me, but I even think she was a bit more comfortable with occasionally catching me checking her out.

And off of the tangent, yeah, a lot of times i feel kinda skinny (as in just less muscular, i'm not exactly skinny myself) around women like that.  It's a weird hot+intimidating feeling.

What I'm really looking for is personal experiences.

I don't imagine I would. Wouldn't know since my gym is devoid of fit (forget muscular) women...

I was posting on another topic and this subject popped back into my mind. I have a younger cousin who's 18 and he is totally uncomfortable around a fit female or a girl with bigger muscles than he. He works out and is pretty lean, but he's not a big kid, he's about 5'7" 135 pounds or so. He doesn't even want to meet a woman with bigger muscles than he has. He thinks its gross.
The reason I brought it up is because his younger sister(16 years old) has been a dancer all her life and she does actually have bigger muscles than he and they are pretty defined. This sounds like the begginning of a story, but its the God's honest truth. So since my cousin wouldn't come near this forum on a dare, I'll vote for him. There is at least 1 thin guy that I know who gets spindly around muscular girls.

I'm 29yo 6'2 210lbs, I've been lifting since I was 15. I can chin myself from a dead hang with 100lbs hanging from my waist.

Even around muscular women they are usually much smaller than me, so the answer to your question would be no, I don't feel spindly around muscular women.

I ran into Hugo Girard at the gym once, he's one of the "world's strongest man" on ESPN competitors. Then I felt really spindly

my thoughts exactly, I don't feel spindly around fbb but when Victor Martinez and Edson Prado are walking around your gym it kinda does make you feel spindly ;)

Disclaimer:  my disability, wheelchair use and short stature should be borne in mind when reading what follows.

I've not had he privillege of being around a musclebabe yet, but I don't anticipate that I would feel intimidated; more a combination of awed and aroused, I imagine. 8) ;D ::)

Fett you make me lol.

I would have thought it a bit odd to ask that kind of question on this forum- I mean, if the attraction is muscular women then I'm sure most guys here would be more like fascinated/interested than intimidated.

My biceps are about the same size as those of my fiancé (they haven't really gotten smaller since I stopped lifting) and he's 6'3'' 290lbs of muscle and fat (he also used to lift ysee- I know he's not thin but it's just a point). But then he's still stronger than me- being 11 inches taller than me and the male thing probably has something to do with it. I couldn't win him in an arm wrestle- but I could crush him with my thighs, they're like stupidly strong for someone that doesn't lift anymore. And seeing as my center of gravity is generally lower, I could floor him pretty easy (his skinny friend in Judo can just on that principle).
ANYWAY, my point. He's not intimidated by me being a strong woman- lol but maybe his sister he is... she's scary >:D
But then he doesn't exactly like the idea of me lifting again, though that's an attraction thing, apparently.

However my friend James, who'se about 6' and is one of the skinniest things alive (I wonder how he's still alive sometimes) is TERRIFIED of a woman that's even toned.

Ah, well, you see, that sort of depends on the guy.

I will confess that I'm a geek. Love being one  ;D But, when I was at school I was fairly bad around girls. There are probably more reasons then me being a geek, e.g., it was an all boys school until 6th Form/College when my school went co-ed.

Not to say I'm making a sweeping statement, I like to think I'm better now, and can prove it with a Facebook or IM contact list, but then theres still the subject of the muscular chick.

I have before considered that I might be mildly intimidated, my track record with actually dating or whatever is not great, so it's probably more me feeling insecure about me being mildly out of shape since I got to Uni and then pining over someone who has put the effort in and will look down on me for not etc etc.

Having said that, I have been going out with my girlfriend for 2 years, and she's a dancer with a nice (i.e., toned) physique, but she's not bigger then me so maybe I'm not talking bull?

Either way, I still think that I might feel intimidated by an FBB. A woman named Marina Cornwall is a Personal trainer at my gym, she won a Natural FBB competition a few years back I think, and I'm a bit intimidated to go up and speak to her. I'd feel ashamed at the state of my 'abs' compared to hers...

As budoka said, I think it's possible to be intimidated by a muscle chick even if you're a huge fan of them.  In this case, the intimidation is brought-about by the guy feeling that he is dramatically inferior to the Amazon, rather than in the everyday "She's a huge, ugly b**** who wants to be a guy" way that the majority of people think.  They're intmidated in a scared and repulsed way; we're intimidated in an awe-struck "I'm not worthy" kind of way.

Most of the women I've been involved with have been at least a couple inches taller than I am and between 10 and 60 pounds heavier, all varying between athletic and muscular. I'm 5'8" and weigh about 145, very lean but solid and defined, I guess they call it a "swimmer's build."

When you're with a girl who is literally a foot taller than you are and has 60 pounds of muscle on you, yes, there's some intimidation going on -- at first.

Who did you go out with who was 6'8"!!!?  I'd absolutely enjoy every nano-second I'd spend with her.  Granted I did enjoy every nano-second I spent with the taller and more muscular women I've dated!

I'm not - when I'm in a presence of a muscular woman I'm usually somewhat awed, and very respectful of her dedication to her body.

However, I knew a guy in high school who was smaller than me (I'm 5'9, 150 pounds), and his sister's bicep was literally bigger than his thigh.  Naturally this kid was intimidated by her because when you have a sibling rivalry you're looking for every advantage over them you can get.  He didn't have any advantages whatsoever.

The first FBB I dated, I was (at first) turned off by her appearance.  But thankfully over time and much thought, I came to find her so lusciously attractive… what eventually captivated me was the contrast between her rock solid body and my rubenesque, hour glass figure.

We both found the differences to be powerfully sexy.

I think when meeting an athlete or person you idolize, the experience can temporarily  make anyone feel small. However I'm sure the negative  feelings can quickly dissipate if your idol is open enough to sense your insecurities and help you feel relaxed.

I've met a bunch of them and found most to be very non intimidating. I met them at the wse, gyms, and the NYMC. That is a different enviorment. I'm fairly big though. Mikayla is my height was taller in her heels. Not intimidating though. She was hanging out with Robin Coleman outside. The weird thing is that in the genral public people will stare at them alot if you are talking to them.

I had an interesting experience one time taking the tickets at the NYMC. There were 2 theatres and one was for the fbbs to freelance and do their thing and the other was for some weird play. The guy for the weird play had not gotten there and so I was getting his peopel and had to let them know I was only taking money for the NYMC event. A few of them wondered what my interest was when they saw the girls and had other funny questions. The crowd we got had all types, but I would say on average the guys were thinner than normal and smaller. Plenty of exceptions though. The girls are mostly nice. It is like anything else...people are different. Some are more outgoing than others. They are people.

My being 6'7" and 240 lbs makes it difficult for me to feel spindly.......howev er on the few occasions i have run into those women who can almost look me in the eyes I do feel a little intimidated.  Mostly cuz i already Know how powerful a spirit the females have to begin with being raised by women and to see that in a larger container is awesome.(not "awesome dude" but AWEsome)

It is person to person I'm sure. I'm fairly big and reasonably fit, so most of thre girls aren't stronger than me and if they are it isn't in useful type of strength. I used to get through guys who benched 500. Strength is mportant in weightlifting itself, but as far as applying it...you have to know how. I was joking with abig name fbb ...one the very big ones and she was telling me what a wuss she really is in spite of vids that might suggest to the contrary.

The girls are strong...don;t get me wrong, but when it comes to armwrestling and and that sort of thing leverage is important...and speed. Speed beats power in almost every sport. Definitely in combat sports, wrestling, and in football as well. I'm assuming some strength of course. Guys 250 often beat 350 as you say today. A guy who can bench 400 at 6-4 is alot more impressive than a guy who does it at 5-9. Longer arms.
A small guy migjht be used to getting picked on and have low self esteem. This question is too general, but I'd imagine many guys who are thin do feel that way. People judge on looks often. I mean first impression. Much more with guys than girls. They are more gentle, though appearances matter to them as well.

I work out a lot and I'm pretty strong, so I wouldn't feel spindly.

I *would* be pretty self conscious if I was around a girl that had a ripped 6 pack though. I gave into temptation too many times recently and its going to take me some time to get it back.

Very!  We met up Saturday morning at A-Basin and skied all day.  She was right there with me on the double blacks, in the trees and moguls.  After the lifts closed we went to the community center and while she lifted back and bi's, I hopped on the boring stationary bike with my iPod.  Then we brought dinner back to the condo we were staying at.

Repeat above for Sunday except we went to Vail, hit every back bowl they have and even dropped off "Lover's Leap" (not either of us in the video but almost exactly where we dropped in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylClmj5Jzhk)!!!

After we watched the Super Bowl, it was time for me to drive back home because of work Monday morning...  An awesome weekend with a total sweetheart!!!

Here's a few pictures too: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=43086&l=cbb40&id=667664020

I was 6' 195 in fairly shape and could bench 220.  She was 6'1 175 and training to go to the olympic trials for rowing, so she was very strong, 6pack and in perfect shape.  After a few dates during a discussion she asked  me that most guys she has dated are intimidated by her, why wasn't I?  I couldn't really answer for the other guys she dated.  She was obviously the biggest and strongest girl I ever dated.   :) I don't think I was intimidated by her and she didn't think I was.  What I told her was I didn't understand what there was to be intimidated about.  We were dating and friends.  She wasn't going to beat me up and we weren't going to fight.  I wasn't a rower so there wasn't any competition.  Maybe there is more to this I don't know.  Any insight would is appriciated.

As far as I can tell there isn't more to this!!  If she's OK with being a bit taller than you, and as you said there's no intimidation between you, then totally enjoy every second you spend with this awesome woman!!!!  Keep her around as long as you can, unless there's some personality things between you, otherwise there's nothing to worry about!  Enjoy!

Yes I do..    My ex is a Pro Fitness Competitor..   She was 5-7 160 at the time..  I on the other hand is 5-8 165  only difference is she had bigger muscles.  Her arms, and back were massive.   She was about to make the switch into bodybuilding cause she was getting to big for fitness.

Everywhere we went someone had a comment like damn shes bigger then you or damn your girl could kick your ass..  stuff like that and it made me feel spindly..

Except for that..  IT sure was great to date a bodybuilder =)

Right on!!  In my opinion, feeling spindly like this is what it's all about.  I would've totally enjoyed those comments because then I'd know I was in the right ballpark.

Anyone we'd know?  ;D

Hmmm, maybe I should rename this thread: Tales from the Front.

Then again, Cheryl Lavin already pens column by that name.  ;)
