Taken as a given it’s obvious that all of us are into buffed chix, otherwise why would you be here at all?  ;)  Some enjoy the FMG and/or BE aspects; others prefer to focus on the realms of strength and prowess or explore the admiration and rigors of bodybuilding, or even a combination of some or all of the above.

Now, the question for this episode of Inside the Writer’s Studio is a simple one - what caused you / inspired you to shift from being a passive observer and into a proactive story writing participant of this genre?

In my own case, it was the lack of what I looking for in particular - Giant Couples stories, of which there has been very little, if any, written upon.  This, I took as a challenge - and in taking up the gauntlet, I’ve not stopped since.

Over the course of time, my interests have evolved into what I call Power Couples, which is a more inclusive term, since I don’t just focus on Giants and Giantesses anymore.  Amongst them, I’ve including transgenic (aka furry) and even SW (Minizons), as well as solo stories of transformation, some about women, some about men, too.

One of my reasons is similar to yours, if I didn't write it, then no one would.

I'm not big on the whole 'request' thing. You know bugging a writer/artist to create something you're probably more than capable of doing yourself.

However the most important reason was just to see if I could do it.

My family always told me that I had a knack for writing when they read my school assignments but they didn't know that sometimes it would take me half an hour just to write two paragraphs that I thought was half satisfactory. Hell, this post will probably go through at five revisions before you guys see it. 

I guess the story I wrote was a learning experience. If I could get at least part of it out then I could face any other obstacle I may perceive in my life.

After I finally crossed the digital divide and got online, I was first into anime fanfiction with a play-by-e-mail roleplay game.  We'd create characters, start an adventure idea, write what our characters do, send it to the other players, they write what theirs do, and gradually built a story which would get posted on the web.  Mine was a magic princess/warrior who struggled with the fact she got an inch taller every time she transformed into a heroine.

The fact I'd also was struggling with weight loss at the time probably tempered my writing a bit.

Later I'd done some searches for giantess stories... and I stumbled into the female muscle growth genre.

At first when I read the stuff, I was bummed by how raunchy too many of the stories were, and that the guy was a total doormat four times out of five, and that the girl was a power-tripping ogress.  So as a challenge, and just to see what the community's reaction would be... I wrote a story where the guy was a shrimp among a bunch of insanely amazonian females in his world, and he still held his own and got the better of them in his own right.

Admittedly, I focused on his personality at the cost of developing the others, but I still got positive responses from readers. 

And later, I decided to focus on the females, and do something positive with the strong females.  That's when The Stray, and the Dyna fanfics and Like a Weed came out. 

Now I'm doing it for the fun and concepts.  But that's what lit the fire under my writer's double-wide.  I wanted some positive, honorable and entertaining writings that'd please my "eye" for the plus-sized ladies, yet be something I could show my kids, sweetheart, or pastor. 

And as joey7x said astutely, "if I didn't write it, then no one would."

Not that I can remember exactly, but I think the sequence of events went like this: I'd gotten a bit of the writing bug when I did NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnano) in 2004, and I wanted to find a way to continue writing but not be under so much pressure. I'd joined Amaz0ns's previous incarnation, SheGrew, in 2003, and so it all came together. I'd enjoyed reading the stories on here, and that inspired me to start writing some of my own.

I still enjoy it, though finding the time is getting increasingly difficult... :(

I was frustrated by a lack of stories that appealed to me - so I just proclaimed my intentions to write and wouldn't you know, I was one of the best authors to ever enter the scene and also profoundly modest.

So, yes - mostly that I felt my needs weren't being catered to and I was pretty sure that no one else was going to write a story about a bunch of girls becoming bosomy amazonic lesbian catgirls... and I don't think anyone has written any since The Best Craft either...

I'd have to agree, I don't think anyone has.  ;)

On a similar note, of something you don't see everyday, I once wrote one with a gal who transforms into a Gammazon She-Hulk, but then, later, has a second growth spurt (uncontrollable) and becomes a full flamin' GTS (100-foot range).

Mind you, she wasn't your nice and sexy sort, but an evil city-rampaging one, that as a highlighting moment wipes out a civic center hosting a comic book convention along with all of the attending fanboys.

Well I do remember my experiences from starting off on the Iczerman forums, back when he used VOY/1185/ to communicate with everybody.

Don't know if it's still up since I haven't been there in years, but that's when I first decided I wanted to start contributing.  I knew I couldn't draw but I did know that I could write, so in order to contribute I would write some stories.

I'm not exactly sure if my stories were uncommon, all I know is that most of the characters I would read about weren't very likeable or captivating.  They would just grow, rip their clothes, and have sex.  Was getting pretty bland and stale, so I wanted to make a story with characters that had strong motives for keeping themselves under control and at a normal size.  I wanted more action, drama, and character development.  A real conflict between characters wanting to change and character wanting to prevent the change.

At least, that was what initially brought me into writing.


It wasn't until I started working on my animation that I wanted to add some back story to all the events that were happening.  What happened when the main character died, what happened after the big battle, what is still yet to come even though several years have passed?  Now all of my most recent stories connect to one another, each sharing one universe but following the lives of different characters.  A diverse selection between those who can control themselves after a change and those who cannot.

I'm not quite sure how all my characters ended up being so short though, since they were based off of real girls I've known throughout my life.  99% of the characters ended up being 5' 4" and no taller.  They obviously weren't very muscular either, but oh well they were based on very cute and beautiful girls.

I started writing for the same reason I figure everyone in this genre starts:  I like character-driven stories of obese, timid, and awkward girls transforming, and I did not feel that there were enough of them out there.  Plus, I was not satisfied with existing authors spent enough time fleshing out the character before the transformation. 

Plus, I never thought of myself as a great writer, but I felt I was better than at least some of the authors that I had read, and not just in this genre.  I had considered writing short stories and novella serials, but never knew where to start.  As far as trying a hand at actually writing I felt like FMG found me as much as the other way around. 

I remember that story, Alex.  I thought that that was an excellent tale of growth and muscle.  I believe that was the tale of the woman who went insane as she became a She-Hulk type and then found that deity book to become a demi-goddess as it were.  At least I believe that that's the story I'm thinking about.   :P

My personal reasons for starting to write are uh...not quite as profound as everyone elses.

I wanted the "contributor membership" to Diana The Valkyrie, and I couldn't draw. So I thought of my favorite shows to do FMG of (I had just finished watching Neon Genesis Evangelion at the time) and went for it with the most passion for writing I had ever had, and what do you know, after I got that membership, I pretty much stopped writing! :D

So in short, I wrote to obtain "porn". ;D

Though I guess looking at the few stories I've written, it was nice to get the "anime/manga FMG story" genre more out into the open.

I started writing because I had all these fantasies in my head, and I wanted to put them down on paper. No one was writing my exact own fantasies anyway, so I thought I would just go ahead and start putting my fantasies on Diana the Valkyrie's. Much like Debido-San, I have been doing it for a contributor's membership, which I've kept for 5 plus years now.

Maybe not lesbian themed but plenty of mine contained lesbians who were FMG'd...

That's the one, you got it correct - it was originally posted on Everything Grows forum.  As I recall, Terry and Panther also enjoyed it.  That was back when I was still writing epic-length novels.

She's reformed now, rehabilitated under the guidance of her patron, Goddess Gaea - a Gammazonian superheroine promoting truth, justice and the Glory of Gaea.

Recently, she aided in the recovery of the ultimate book of comicdom, a Necronomicon-like tome, stolen from The High Castle.

You could always do a find/replace using a word processor and change all the guys' names to girls' names, all the he's to she's, and all the him's to her's.  This shit ain't Faulkner, after all.

I use to be quite an active role player preferring D&D style systems as well as the world of darkness. However, as time went on the games I use to belong to dried up as people quit playing for one reason or the other.

With no other outlet for my creative energies and a head full of characters writing seemed like a good idea.

Of two worlds by Sketchbook and speaking with Blar of the gts depot also helped to get things rolling.

Like some of you, I started writing because I wanted to read the stuff.  And I somehow found writing it was even more of a turn on than reading it.

But strangely enough, I started writing this stuff 6 months before I discovered alt.amazon-women.admirers and the internet in 1994.  Must have been the Zeitgeist or something in the water.

I think this thread proves that we're all the same in one way or another. My reasons really aren't any different from what has been said already by others.

1. I guess I got inspired one day.

2. From there, my muse wouldn't shut up.

3. And like most have said, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.
