Title: 100 pushups
Post by: SnowLeopardTaur on Jul 16, 2008, 05:17 AM
http://hundredpushups.com/

How to do 100 consecutive pushups in 6 weeks.  Looks great for beginners or those looking for a challenge. This is great, pretty much anyone can do pushups... no special equipment required!

So what are you waiting for?  Get to it! *cracks whip*  ;D

I would think a better challenge as a test of personal prowess for a beginner would be working up to deadlifting your bodyweight and/or twenty-one (overhand) pullups . . . but that's just IMHO.  ;)

Yeah, I met a guy recently who told me about the 100 pushups site.  I didn't say anything to him but it seemed like kind of a low bar to set for yourself.

Yeah... except when you don't have access to a pullup bar or weights... =/

I just like how you can do these anywhere, and it's very simple.

Well, depending upon how serious you are . . . but if you've got space (doesn't take much room) and are on a shoe-string budget, you can get a good two-piece (barbell rack frame and bench) workout station w/ weight set at Wal-Mart for a small outlay of $$$.

Either that, or keep tabs on the local money saver / shopper's guides in your area, it's not uncommon to pick up the equipment second hand at fraction of what it costs new.

Actually I did have a nice set of weights, but my ex took 'em. ;_;  I'm hopefully going to be leaving the province in a few weeks so I figure there's no point in getting a whole new set, not to mention the fact that I would have nowhere to put them.

Yeah, yeah... I know I sound like I'm making excuses... but I have no excuse not to at least do some pushups in the meantime!

Hey. NOTHING wrong with pushups. :o Look at gymnastics training, look at some of the gymnasts. That is mostly all body weight workouts. If you have no other options, there's nothing better. And it IS better than nothing. :)

Most people are world class excuse makers when it comes to diet and exercise.  I'm no exception.  100 push-ups may be a relatively modest goal, but it's a heck of a lot better than not having a goal.  And quickly achievable goals are confidence builders.

Good for you for continuing to push.

Well, I started the 100 push-ups program yesterday.

I was exercising regularly already, but it's nice to have a 'real' program to follow. It should make training more consistent and propably more effective.

Plus, it's fun to keep track of mah progress.

I'm afraid to say this seems appealing as well. Seems I have a very short attention span when it comes to any form of working out, so this should at least get the ball rolling as its on a weekly basis. They also have a 200 sit-up thing as well.

Handstand pushups are loads of fun and you don't have to slog through a hundred of them to reach your goal. Just doing 5-10 will make you feel like a big man/woman  :)

It may not be some epic goal. But it is a goal.

I am thinking about starting both 100 pushup and 200 situps.

Half way through the first week!

*Banned from any form of Training forum and gym forever for being a n00b*

But seriously, at the moment it's just summit for me to do at home with an attainable goal. By the time I finish it as well, my schedule should lift enough for me to get back to gym.

At least that's what I'd always heard...  ;)

I guess you fellas and gals are alot younger than me or played less contact sports. I'm 43 and let me tell you....pushups crush theshoulders now. So does Bench. Be careful with it. I can only do about 25 now and won't even try it any more. clicking and popping galore when i do them.

A gym is a great idea. I d.o go there and still have most of my strength...just some scars from the battles over the years.

Pushups are a godd up[per bod exercise. I'd mix it wiht something like pullups for the back. An abroller is good if you don't like pushups. This is the best time to work out...no doubt.

I can do between 60 and 70 in one shot, I want to eventually get to 150 but that will take alot more time and effort :) just keep practicing right

body weight training are super ! get a pull up bar,do push ups (no idea why you need to strive to 100 it sounds kinda silly to me),its always nice that you can do this things almost anywhere at any time (even in the bus stop if your not shy haha).
also i recommend lounges, tricep dips (can use a chair,as you probebly know) and body weight only proper squats (the whole foot is on the floor as you go down).
