Sorry, TMM, you're not getting it.  If her now husband is a BBer himself, he must have expected her to get bigger, especially as she was going for a Pro card.  So why wait until she has it to decide that he doesn't want her to compete any more?  It doesn't make sense.  As Alex said, her blog posts made it clear that she fell out of love with the palaver and demands of being a Pro BBer - it is an intense and disruptive lifestyle.  Good luck to her and her husband; and, as Alex G says, she will probably stay buff as part of her lifestyle but will no longer train for contests.  She's a sad loss to the stage, but I think she will live to be glad of her decision.
Because he's a bodybuilder and therefore doesn't want his wife upstaging him?

I'm not getting it, and yet you assume a male bodybuilder is totally okay with his wife overshadowing him.

You assume he's not, so looks like neither party is going to be right unless they get it from the horse's mouth.

Again, you're not getting it. You think the forumgoers here are the only people on Earth who like strong/muscular women?

What you're saying simply does not make sense regarding Cindy Phillips' history. Right now, she has no joy in bodybuilding and is just going to relax for a while. Maybe, if we're lucky, she'll continue posing and such but for now she's done competing.

Like we agreed to with Gina Davis, let Cindy fall out of the limelight for a little while, and maybe someday she will change her mind and come back. But if she never does don't fret about it. It is her life and her decision to make.

Would that Cindy had visited us, even if only just to say hi, and thank us for our very-positive support.

But, that's life.  Cool

Can I suggest that this thread be locked until such point as AlexG hears any news?

What would be the point of locking the thread?  Why not just let the current discussion taper off?  Maybe my opinion doesn't matter for much, but I don't see anything that really requires action from a moderator or administrator.

I am concerned that the discussion is getting heated.

I can see where you could get that impression, but why ask for a thread lock when it would be easier to walk away from the discussion and let it cool down instead?  Don't take me wrong, this is all still in the realm of my personal opinion.  From where I sit, it doesn't look like things are that incredibly heated; to be sure, most of us have probably seen much worse.  Generally, I find that fires tend to die down when they aren't stoked.

Anyway, back to topic:  I hate to see that yet another favorite might be disappearing.  Granted, she's only talked about leaving competition thus far.  Speaking from a selfish point of view, it'll be a real loss if she vanishes from the scene.  Time will tell, I suppose.
