It's sad, they have some really great stuff, but my feelings (and this goes for lh-art too, although they seem to be doing fine ) is that 22 bucks is a LOT to pay for a magazine of limited pagination and production. I guess fetish can't overcome the free market.....

Not so much the free market, as it's just another example of the Internet Affect effecting the world of hard copy.  Or in other words, why pay for a magazine catering to your special interests when there is plenty of freely supplied materials to be found on-line.

Their stuff is expensive, and it's a shame they are closing. I managed to get some of their stuff a couple of years ago.
Hopefully they sned their back catalog somewhere else to keep the stories avaliable

I think another factor is that he hasn't gone the LH-Art route and made stuff available online as he didn't trust online stuff.  I'm sure a number of people on this site and elsewhere would have bought some downloads and his business would have been much helped rather than harmed by this.

I agree it's a shame, though.

So what are EL's "illustrated tales" like?  More specifically, what's the ratio of illustrations to pages?  Are they like comic books?  Or are they double-spaced stories with a picture every three or four pages?  Or something in-between?

Some definitely look interesting enough to buy, but I'd like to have an idea of what you get for $22.
