Hostile welcome.

I have a question for some of the veteran amazon fans here. I am new to all this and I am rapidly becoming obsessed with this form of art. I even started working out!
I recently posted a couple doodles on other sites not connected with "amazons" or muscles and some people were thrilled while others were down right hostile. I was wondering if this is common or just bad luck? Is a muscular woman more threatening than I thought, are people just insecure,or is a big bicep perverted and a big breast ok? A person drawing a man in tights and wearing a cape is not asked "What are you, gay?" but a drawing of a muscular woman gets "Whats with you and muscles? Are you a perv?" I am simply amazed. My question is have any of you encountered this kind of muscle-phobic (new word I just created) uglyness and is this a common response.

You need to find out who the hostiles are and where they live, and then go there and set them on fire.

Welcome SinD!
Since joining the on-line community I have noticed that there are certainly some individuals who abuse the fact that there is some inherent anonymity in forums. This anonymity can allow those with more ugly or primative attitudes to be more aggressive or hostile than they could or would be in a more accountable situation.
In my experience the notion of muscular women does not seem to bring out the microcephalic mouth-breathers any more than any other topic of interest.
However, it is human nature to notice such behavior more when something we enjoy is the target.
The best thing to do is to accentuate what you enjoy and ignore that and those which you do not. Do not try to argue with or persuade those who are in a conversation for all of the wrong reasons. You are not in a forum for
their
benefit or entertainment -- you should be there only for your own.

One man's art is another man's trash... er, something like that.
In all honesty, I won't post my art unless I know it's in a forum where it is appreciated. Granted, it's not like I have much art floating around here and not that it's really art either but... I think what they said.

No I think it is because they are not used to seeing women big and buff and muscular and it is their problem and not yours to deal with I say let them say all that they want and it will fall on def ears. Well I am totaly used to seeing big buff and muscular women and so what we all are diffrent in our on ways

DeviantArt, period.
I've gotten lucky with my DA run. But most of, if not all, the other artists on here with a DA page has had at least one or two attacks on their work.

I am neither a veteran nor have had many brushes with people outside the FM community for my work. However, I've heard of many such stories. And as KTM has said, many (if not all) FM artists on dA have had abuse thrown at their work. These include the Japanese artists who don't speak much English but who've decided to make their home there as well. And the fans have done the same thing there as we are doing here, which is give each other support, and understand that FM is not -yet- a generally accepted form of interest in this still patriarchal society. However, FM has grown much since a couple of decades ago, thanks to communities like Amaz0ns.. and we're building quite a contingent at dA too. So the future is looking bright
