This installment of Inside the Writer's Studio will revolve around the topic of story requests from the reading audience.  We've all seen them, sometimes we're personally singled out for our wordsmith skills - in public on the forums, even incamera by email or a PM.

Question is, if asked, would you write one for them?

Or if not, why not?

I’ve never been asked, so I wouldn’t know how to respond.  I guess no one loves me anymore…   Cry

The story would have to really, REALLY interest me for me to devote hours and hours of my life to.  My ongoing saga (The Conquest of Mawiyah) has already taken me a year!

Peace and Love,

~Mimi

Requests? No. A trade... maybe. Commissions... probably, depending on the rate.

I've got far too many stories of my own to write without writing other people's.

I will confess, I've joined in a 5-way pay-it-forward meme over at deviantArt.  One of those things where you sign up for an artist to do a picture for you, if you agree to post the meme in your page and agree to write for the first five people that request it.

I owe BlackKusanagi two stories, and Refaal one.

On my own volition?

Requests?  Only if it's something I was ready to do anyway.  Trades for art?  Depends on the artist.  Commissions?  As in cash monies?  Make me an offer.  Grin

Of course, I reserve the right to say no if the subject's something that's not my groove.

I could probably be talked into expanding a story concept, unless it were an idea that I really do not like (e.g. underage sexual content).  As with any writer, I don't know if I can deliver a particular theme that someone else wants, and whatever (s)he requests would end up with my brand on it.  If you fancy yourself an artist, though, it's your ambition to develop someone's requested material.

I may write a very short story if I liked the concept but probably not. I've learned that working within a world created by another is quite difficult and often leaves me feeling aggravated.
