Post of Marion Jones unscrupulously stolen from herbiceps message board.

One of the sad stories in BALCO-case. Got a six months sentence in prison and 200 hours of community service for perjury relating to her using of steroids and for a check-fraud scam.

WTF? Jail time for cheating at sport? Aren't we taking it all just a bit too seriously!? In any case, when looking at those photos of her working out in a gym and flexing, it's hard not to marvel at the irony when considering what was to come. Maybe she should have trained with a natural bodybuilder!

Natural bodybuilder is pretty much an oxymoron, they exist but... I'd almost say they are the minority.

Not at all. She lied to federal prosectors and the world about using and did it with a smug look on her face of how dare anyone even ask. She lied about other athletes that they were after as well and distributors of illegal substances. I thought she got off way easy. It wasn't the using that did her in. It was the lying to the feds. That is a significant crime. She also lied to the world and when others are competing without roids and you win because of them and get millions, then yes.....it is a major crime there too. Bodybuilders are not competing for millions. That is why nobody cares as much if they use as long as they don't distribute....which many do.

Yehh and she also did some check counterfeiting when her many ran out during the long trials and due to sponsors demanding their many back.

Cheating in sports is one thing but a perjury is a lot more serious. If you cheat, don't get caught, but if you do, confess everything. In that point you only make a fool of yourself by lying.

Yeah the whole Marion Jones thing IS messed up, really. But, after her husband(I'm not sure if they're still together, but I think he was helping train her beforehand), C.J., was caught using them, we all knew it was only a matter of time before she went down, too.

It's a crime to lie to a Federal agent in the U.S.  She didn't have to talk to them at all - anyone can just say, "I don't want to speak to you" - but if someone chooses to speak to a Federal agent and then lies, it's a big deal.
