A joke article on evolution that those of us on this site would uniquely appreciate.  Evolution will make women taller and stronger and men smaller and weaker.  The graphics very 1950s.  Enjoy

Amusing, but bad science, unfortunately.  If anything, both men and women are more likely to reduce in musculature.

How could that article have been in SciAm?

I wish that would be true.

Wow, only a year until women become a head taller than us. Bring it on!

I think there is some truth in it though. There are certainly more strong, athletic women around than 50 years ago, and it may have something to do with women being encouraged to have an equal role in society to men.

I've also read some articles where they say women are closing and might go ahead men in athletics. Those assuptions were clearly based on pure mathmatics and they are trying to insure why statistics are good in predicting the time progress.

I found that type of article nonsense since it didn't take account of the sosial structure changes, which have alloved women to train as professionally as men. That – in my opinion – has been the main reason why the gap between men and women has narrowed but now since both have pretty equal chances of training, it's not gonna come any closer for at least for this reason.

I think that kind of observation really shows that the person behind hasn't really acquainted with running history since no one hasn't even been close all-time recors in women for a long time and I guess everybody knows how it has been in men sprints last year.

If the last 20 years is any indication of short term evolution, both sexes are simply getting fatter and fatter.  (there are exceptions of course)

Sad but true.
