This show is not worth it, I'm warning you now.
Regarding the show as a whole, I agree with you. The writing is, well, bad. Characters are two-dimensional and the jokes don't get more than an occasional chuckle. And it has a near continuous laugh track. Which means that they think the jokes are not funny enough to laugh at on their own.
The thing that amazed me was the fact that given how labor-intensive and time-intensive stop motion animation is, that it was allowed to go forward with scripts as bad as these.
However, despite the bad plot and bad jokes I will give it at least some credit for three things:
- The depiction of FMG on a prime time cable show (though with the caveat that it is an episodic sitcom).
- The character that does the growing (Jackie) is depicted as having actual musculature and not just 'generically big'.
- The aforementioned character actually enjoys her growth and new muscles (even though they use the same tired tropes about changes in personality and voice).
