And now for something very large, indeed!   8-)

A while back, just before they pulled the plug on the original Avengers title, Marvel began playing around with the Wasp / Janet Van Dyne being a Giantess.

Yes, as the Wrecking Crew discovered, 'tis wise not to piss off a Giantess, especially a highly protective one.

Ever wonder where a Giantess lands?  Anywhere she wants.

The same could be said about the new Invaders - best not to make her angry, you really wouldn't like her when she gets angry.

Interesting and quite ironic at the same time.  :-P

Okay. I'm not up on my comics, but how did Ms. Van Dyne get to be a giantess?

Okay. I'm not up on my comics, but how did Ms. Van Dyne get to be a giantess?

It's tied in with her ability to shrink, the Pym Particles that were infused into her body can work both ways.  I'm given to understand its not the first time she tried it, a very long time back, but preferred shrinking to growing.

Side bar / personal speculation - It's probably more of a reflection of those (i.e. men) working with the character in wanting her to remain visually submissive by staying small, this despite the fact that she was the team leader of the Avengers.  Similar to why it took them so long to portray the She-Hulk with a plausible femuscular build to match her awesome levels of strength.

In this most recent incarnation of her being a GTS and now with the debacle of the original Avengers group some have speculated that her desire to be a large as well as in charge was subtly influenced by the growing insanity of Scarlet Witch - and the same with the recent Hulk-like rampage of She-Hulk in "Search for the She-Hulk".

Her ability to grow causes her great pain. I don't know it the storyline has changed but it was causing her problems with her heart.

In the mid 90's she was warned that is she kept growing she might die.

It looks as if that has changed though.

Also her little girl has been growing lately too. I remember seeing a short piece about it.

Actually it's the second Ant Man's daugther, Cassie, that's taken over the size-changing duties.  I believe that she'll be doing mostly growing if her code name is any indication - Titan.
