Not sure the exact date they started requiring login for uploads but as of my last post that is what Image Shack has begun doing.

Not requiring logins was one of the reasons it became such a popular site. They were my go-to image host… were.

I doubt I am alone in this opinion so for the sake of the board, what free image host would you suggest as a replacement and why? Bare requirements: No login to upload or view, no file expiration date for inactivity or other reason, and hot linking permitted.

Just tried it now, had no problem when I uploaded the .jpg – didn’t ask for a log-on before proceeding.

When I first logged onto the site, I made certain the “Remember Me” box was checkmarked so I don’t have to log-on everytime I go to Imageshack. Possibly, that might be your answer.

You are side stepping the key matter entirely. No login. That means no login ever, hence no registration, no checkbox to authorize a long term cookie. No username. No password. No disclosure of email or other information.

The advantage to the site and a preferential feature of it was the ability to NOT have yet another account to worry about. To simply go to the site url, browse to the file needing a host, upload, and share the link.

I thank you for the input AlexG, but it was a side step.

I had the same problem. A friend suggested Imgur.

TinyPic.com imagevenue.com for anything too “adult” for either of those imgnook.com but imgnook can be a little flaky sometimes. Everything I post on this forum is either tinypic or imagevenue for thumbnails as tinypic does not give you links for that. If you don’t have a tinypic account you have to enter a captcha phrase when uploading.

Trying http://www.freeimagehosting.net/ for now. It just needs bulk upload.

I just tried to type into their browse bar, but it wouldn’t accept my letters. Anyone else have that problem?
