    Bah another bad cast. Scarlett Johansson is no Major. Major Kusanagi is muscular and maybe a little taller.

    Disappointing news. They couldn’t get a Japanese actress at least? Ugh. I mean, the movie would be great if Scarlett decided to put on some muscle, but we know that won’t happen.

    I recently watched SF legend of Chun Li; another bad cast. Chun Li look more white than Asian, and has zero muscle

    What muscular? Yes, she is moderately athletic looking, like Johannson was in The Avengers. The only place in Ghost in the Shell you see any “muscle” is when she is trying to pry open the hatch to the tank watching over The Puppetmaster. And even then, as she continues to strain and pull herself apart, you see they aren’t muscles at all, but artificial sinew, motors and framework of her constructed body.

    She is a lot more muscular than Johansson even if its artificial. You think she is athletic looking????

    Why are they making an Anglo version of Ghost in the Shell? Why can’t they just do something original?
    This is so disappointing.

    And worse, it could be PG-13!

    One thing that ticks me off about these adaptions is how there is so much whitewashing in the film adaptions. Appleseed continues to ignore the fact that Briareos was established as a black man in the manga. But instead they’ve referred to his original body as anything but. Deunan is supposed to be of mixed ethnic heritage and they also ignore the fine figure she has as a war veteran.

    Now this comes along and I don’t even see how a western adaption will even work. The Snowden leaks should already be an inspiration for a new story. The screenwriter of Contagion has publicly decried the hysteria the ebola outbreak has created when his film already pointed out how medical groups can handle it. Iron Man and Tron fulfill the technology fascination for America. Any future cyber stories should be told with a new angle.
