I'm getting smoten for no reason, and if it's for a reason, the sly so and so won't own up.
Maybe it's time I left, because I don't come to places to be randomly smoten.
I've been nothing but friendly to this forum. But, as usual, I don't have good luck with forums. Maybe it was a silly idea coming here in the fist place. 🙁
They even smote me again after Mike applauded me to make up for it (and I thank him, he's been really nice to me since I came here).
What I'm getting at is, it's not very fair. I don't like the karma system… so maybe I should just get lost. It's like a popularity contest. We all know who's popular.. we don't have to stick it to their foreheads.
Just wanna know why.. cause you don't like what I draw? Cause I won't take photos? Cause I'm gay? What? 😥

Jesus. I at least TOLD Strawberry I did it. And I made it clear I had a reason(You like someone? Applaud 'em. You don't like 'em? Smite 'em. I didn't like her.)
: If ya DO leave at least I know how to contact ya Kulli so I don't have to lose ya.
I REALLY wish we'd either ditch that shit or just make it registered members and so people KNOW WHO DID IT. I.e I can see "Ok, Pimp Neonblack Applauded me, Kulli applauded me, but alisathemom smote me?" and if I can muster up enough of a care I might ask the person if I slighted them or if it was a misclick/wrong person/infantile display of anger.
September 6, 2005 at 1:35 am #12829Amazon LoverParticipantI don't know why people are smiting you; some people are obviously being major jerks. I'm at least applauding you. I'm betting there's just one or two creeps who are smiting you. Don't let them bug you when the rest of us think your work here is awesome! Please stay!
Honestly, I don't pay attention to my karma at all. I think that it's a bigger nuisance than anything, as it seems to really hurt people's feelings. Do we really need to keep it?

Hear, hear. We've got private messages if we want to praise or smite someone.

I agree – if it's starting to discourage people from coming to the forum perhaps we should nip it in the bud and close it off. I like the idea of it, but without the registering of people who smite mentioned earlier (if not the people who applaud too) it encourages sniping.
Kulli – I'm really sorry to hear you've had this trouble. You've contributed so much to the forum in the time you've been here, it makes me very sad to hear that someone has been so unkind. Here's an extra dollop of *applause* from me, for what it's worth too.
I gather the idea of karma was to give support to people who contribute positively so they feel that their efforts are appreciated and acknowledged in another way (especially since it enables lurkers to approve of something without actually posting – there's nothing more demotivating for an artist/writer/morpher to see 1000 page views and no replies!). If we leave out smiting it still sounds like a good idea to me. What if we only had applauding and smiting wasn't an option you could select?
September 6, 2005 at 2:28 am #12833Amazon LoverParticipantI've made a post on the Leader Board suggesting that we get rid of the Karma system. If anyone wishes to express their feelings regarding the Karma system, for or against, please make them in the Feedback board.
BTW, Kulli, if it makes you feel any better, you've got a Karma of 16, last time I checked, while I only had 2.
September 6, 2005 at 2:40 am #12834LuParticipantYes, but that's not what matters. It's the fact that someone was smiting me and I don't know what I did to deserve it.
Numbers don't matter, it just hurts one's feelings when one is smoten.
September 6, 2005 at 2:48 am #12835Amazon LoverParticipantI honestly don't think you did anything; I think someone was simply being a creep. Perhaps it was random. Perhaps he/she did it out of spite. Perhaps that person is a prejudiced, bigoted jerk who was maliciously dealing with you for having different views on sexuality than he/she did. In any event, it was uncalled for, and I don't think you should leave just because someone was rude. You didn't deserve that smiting, if you ask me.

Oi! It wasn't me!!! How dare you?!… oh, that wasn't what you meant. Er… nevermind… 😛
