I wanted to ask if anyone else has faced this recently. My laptop was working fine before, but after a Windows update it started acting strange. Startup is slower, the fan gets loud even with only a browser open, and the battery drains much faster than before.

I first thought it was just Windows finishing background tasks, so I restarted it a few times and waited. I also checked Task Manager, disabled some startup apps, cleared temporary files, and made sure the storage was not almost full. These steps helped a little, but the laptop still feels warmer than normal.

While reading about possible causes, I noticed that similar symptoms can come from driver conflicts, dust buildup, weak battery health, malware, or even a failing storage drive. I also came across this computer repair services in Calgary page that explains repair and diagnosis support, which was useful as a general reference for understanding when a proper inspection might be needed.

For now, the main things I am checking are update history, battery health, CPU usage, startup apps, storage space, and whether the laptop gets hot while idle. If it only happens during heavy use, it may be normal performance load. But if it overheats while doing basic browsing, I think it could be a cooling or hardware issue.

Has anyone fixed this after a Windows update? Did reinstalling drivers help, or did it turn out to be dust, battery wear, or hardware failure?
