KeymasterActually, Flashheart, I checked and you're the only getting the crack addict ads. Hmmm.

ParticipantActually, this makes me curious to how those ads work. I thought they were generated through the target words (or whatever they are called. The stuff that search engines use to pull up the site whenver X phrase is searched for). Or is it something more complicated? Or is all that info up to the Adengage side of things?

ParticipantAs I type this, there's a crack addict ad on the home page that I'm looking at.

ParticipantI had gotten one earlier too, it'd be great if I was really a crack addict!

ParticipantHmph. Crack? Slummers.
Don't mess with a winning formula. I'm being told to kick the bottle. ;-P
And I got two ads for casinos.
Oop. Just got a Get Professional Help crack ad just now.

Keymaster(I was kidding about flashHeart being the only one to get the crack ads.)
The way it works with AdEngage is that you sign up for the service, and initially you just get "network" ads. Over time, as the site proves its traffic numbers, clicks, etc., specific advertisers will theoretically place ads on the site. AdBrite also works that way, though I am somewhat pessimistic about AdBrite's potential.
Blogads has no network ads, so only the ones that advertisers specifically pay for appear on the site. I've enabled Blogads throughout the site as of last week, which should make Amaz0ns one of the top 50 publishers at Blogads, showing about 160,000 "impressions" per week. Previously Blogads was only shown on the front page.
We've actually got a pretty good advertiser metric here, because the average visitor spends more than seven minutes at the site and our pageviews are about 160,000 per week. Somewhat mysteriously, I have never been able to get more than a tiny fraction of the ad revenue that other similarly-trafficked sites get. That's probably because the site is neither mainstream nor truly adult/NSFW.
I tend to decline the more explicit sex ads, as well as explicit banner ads, but the mainstream advertisers aren't comfortable with the core topic of Amaz0ns, regardless.

How short sighted of them. I wonder how much more revenue would come their way if a little more female muscle was shown.

KeymasterBased on traffic numbers this site ought to bring in several thousand dollars a month. At present it's bringing in less than $100 per month, but that's the result of changes to the site that we haven't "grown into" yet, specifically the new advertising programs. December was the peak, when a combination of factors (Christmas, mostly) resulted in ad revenue of about $350.
