ParticipantYou know, I thought I knew of all of the beautiful muscle goddesses that have ever been, thanks to Amaz0ns and particularly the wonderful posts of AlexG. Howeve, (and I suspect she may have been in-line for Alex to post in his femuscle retrospective series, so sorry if I've stolen your thunder, Alex) I've just accidentally discovered Anja Langer, and, after much wailing and gnashing of teeth at the fact that she's married already, I've decided that I'm still totally and helplessly in love with her anyway. To me, whether you look at photos of her from the late '80s or from the early 2000s, she looks to me every inch like a true, Valkyric goddess. I'm browsing the galleries on her website now, and I'm literally gasping and getting shivers up and down my spine just looking at them (as well as some more predictable physical reactions ;)). If any of you don't know of her site, you can find it at
http://www.anjalanger.com/index.html
just be sure to set-aside plenty of time for browsing, because, if you're anything like me, you may find yourself gawping at just one photo for several minutes as you desperately try to get to grips with her spectacular beauty, supreme grace and elegance, and, of course, impressive and sexy muscularity.
Just a few of my favourites:

It's good that you're approaching this fandom from the "classics" (accidentally or otherwise)! I don't think there's ever been any female physique athlete with finer lines.

What, no "flailing"? Don't hurt yourself! ;D

Not my area of expertise or usual point of reference for priapic reverie, but there's no denying greatness.

Thanks for the support, Grandmaster! I actually came across her a few hours ago whilst browsing on BodyBuilding.com's forums. What a lucky hit, eh? 8) I've never come across the use of the word flailing (by which I presume you to mean self-flagellation) being used in conjunction with gnashing of teeth before. Perhaps it's a British thing (I think you're from the US – am I right?) I must admit I had to look "priapic" up in the dictionary – it's always nice to be able to expand one's vocabulary, especially relating to non family-friendly topics! 😉
As far amy use of the term Valkyric, (which I don't think exists, to my surprise; can't there be a word meaning "to have the properties or characteristics of a Valkyrie"?) I chose it because of Anja's other-worldly quality and her blonde, Aryan (don't panic – they were a race of people way before the hateful National Socialists became fixated on them – I am as anti-Nazi as anyone) looks seemed to suggest a link with Norse folklore (and great classical music) more than it did to more latin-influenced trains of thought and descriptive inspiration.February 5, 2007 at 9:01 pm #47066Grandmaster

No, no! I just meant waving your arms around in hysterical envy of Langer's spouse (with no relationship to teeth gnashing, other than having an indignant fit). This time. ;D
It's American misuse on my part, I think. We used it at home. No, we didn't use flails (grain-threshing staffs with an attached swinging bar), but we were known to flail, in other words, beat or swing something as if with a flail. :-X

No, I get it–gentlemen prefer blondes. Do they ever. ;D

KeymasterVery nice choice, Sir CPBell . . . and say what! You've not heard about her until now . . . perish the thought! 😮
Actually, she was upcoming on my list – but you've saved me the effort. Salute! 8)

ParticipantAh Anja the Angel. She's always been one of my favorites. She was one of the first women to really inspire my interest into women's bodybuilding. Along with Mary Roberts, Diana Dennis, Juliette Bergman and Bev Francis. I'm gonna stop before I go getting all nostalgic about my misspent youth. 😉

Thanks for the kind compliment, Alex – I'm slowly learning. I'm glad that you don't feel that I stole your thunder – I just found her by accident, as I say, and, after ogling the photos on her site for an unhealthy length of time, 😉 I decided that I had to babble to someone abouthow smitten I was… 8)

ParticipantI like the odd-coloured trainers! Reminiscent of 1980s/early 1990's Formula 1 driver Ivan Capell, who used to wear odd-coloured racing boots (yes, I'm a motorsports nerd). Seriously, she looks 😮 in that photo.
