    And the male voice synthesizer – "Alex" – in Mac's Leopard release is even better.  Hopefully there will be a female voice released soon that matches his in quality.

    Hey, that IS pretty good.  (I love the 'it's soooo cool' bit in particular!)  I'm sure there are lots of applications of this for animations, stories etc.  Thanks for the tip!

    From here I used the UK English Audrey for a few. Now My computer welcomes me when it boots up and says good night when I shut down.
